Itinerary
Days 1-2
Journey to Kootenay National Park for a snowshoe jaunt through the dramatic beauty of Marble Canyon and the Paint Pots, admiring frozen waterfalls and limestone walls • Watch for moose tracks as you trek along Tokumm Creek • Travel the pathways along the Bow River and in the shadow of Mount Rundle • In the resort town of Banff, a gondola at the base of Sulphur Mountain whisks us to the summit for uninterrupted, 360-degree vistas of snowcapped peaks and valleys.
Nights 1-2

Day 3
Wearing ice cleats, embark on a memorable trek through Johnston Canyon amid a surreal landscape of icy pillars, turquoise pools and snowy crags to the incredible Cathedral of Ice • Watch ice climbers as they make their way up the frozen falls • Enjoy a soak in the outdoor hot tub, taking in views of Mt. Burgess, Emerald Peak and the pristine alpine scenery • Curl up in front of a roaring fire at our secluded lodge.

A secluded turn-of-the-century lodge, built of hand-hewn timber and featuring simple cabins nestled in the woods above a spectacular tree-rimmed glacial lake.
Days 4-6
Explore frozen Emerald Lake and its stunning alluvial fan on snowshoes • Pass through dense stands of Engelmann spruce and western red cedar until the trail opens up to marvelous views of Mount Goodsir, the highest in Yoho National Park • Snowshoe along the Continental Divide to Ross Lake • Cozy up with a cup of tea in a wingback chair at our elegant mountain retreat, admiring the view of glacier-clad Mount Temple • Ice-skate on the hotel's outdoor rink • Visit Kootenay's pristine and remote Chickadee Valley, surrounded by imposing peaks • A snowshoe trek at the World Heritage site of Lake Louise offers unforgettable views of Mount Victoria and its towering glaciers.

Winter weather in the Canadian Rockies can be among the coldest in North America, but you can comfortably enjoy the outdoors if you're properly dressed. In order to snowshoe or hike in the snow, you must wear warm winter boots (preferably waterproof) and waterproof breathable pants, jacket and gloves. Your clothing should be warm enough to allow you to comfortably remain outside in below-freezing conditions for 2–4 hours at a time. Layers are encouraged for when we snowshoe.
