Depending on the trip that you choose, you can access the beginning of our Dolomites tours through Bolzano, Italy, or on our Austrian Alps & Italy's Dolomites Bike Tour, via Salzburg, Austria.

When should I go on a Dolomites Bike Tour?

The best time to explore the Dolomites on a bike is between June and September. But winter is a magical time to visit as well so feel free to check out our new Dolomites Snow Adventure trip here!

Weather in the Dolomites

So what is the weather like in the Dolomites? It’s mostly winter-like conditions from October to June. Like most mountainous regions around the world, the Dolomites weather can be unpredictable and it’s common to experience four seasons in one day, even in the summer.

Here more than anywhere, it’s always good to bring layers and have a rain jacket, even if the weather forecast says sunny. I always like to say, “Having a rain jacket is the best way to ensure it doesn’t rain.”

What’s the terrain like?

The Dolomites are a mountain range in Northern Italy with an average summit height of 10,968 feet. Cycling in the Dolomites means a lot of uphill, but that challenge pays off. On our Dolomites Biking Tour, you can experience rides with over 1,000 feet of climbing every day, including some routes with over 4,000 feet of elevation gain.

Are the views really worth it?

The Dolomites are famous for a reason. With towering peaks and spires that rise up dramatically from the valley floor, this landscape is awe-inspiring to say the least. In fact, UNESCO describes the Dolomites as “among the most attractive mountain landscapes in the world.”
