Office Staff

Curious about Field Staff hiring?

Check out the Field Staff FAQ below.

Are your roles open to remote work?

The roles specifically listed as remote are the only roles that are open to remote work.

The hiring managers for non-remote roles have made the careful decision to hold these roles in office. We are very selective with the roles that we open to remote work, as the sense of community that has been built at Backroads rests on the back of our strong office culture. We have found this imperative to maintaining our guiding principles of “Act As One Team” and “Quality Reigns Supreme”.

Do you sponsor visas?

We do not sponsor work visas. You are responsible for obtaining your own legal work authorization for the country in which a role is listed before being eligible for that position.

The majority of our open office roles are held in person at our Berkeley, California; Salt Lake City, Utah; Pernes, France; and Canmore, Alberta, office hubs.

We do occasionally have roles open to remote work, but they still require legal work authorization in the country that they are listed in.  For example, a Payroll Lead position open to remote work is only open for those authorized to work in the United States, as it is listed for our Berkeley, California hub.

What are the stages of the recruiting process for office staff?

After you apply through Workday, our recruiting team will review your applications and forward them along to hiring managers.  We thank you in advance for your patience, as our hiring managers take careful consideration of each application.

Typically, the hiring process involves a phone screen with our recruiting team, video interview with our hiring managers, in person interview with our hiring managers, and skills test. There are variations in this process dependent on the role.

You can monitor the progress of your application through Workday, where we will reach out with next steps.

How will I know what stage of the interview process I am in?

Once you submit an application through Workday, you can monitor the progress of your application in the same Workday portal. This is also where our hiring team will reach out to you with communication about next steps if your application is approved.

Do you offer internships?

Yes! We have a paid summer internship program in the summers based in our Berkeley, California, hub. We begin hiring in December/January.

Do you accept general applications?

Yes, we do. When applying through Workday, you are able to submit a general application that we will review when recruiting for new open roles that may suit your experience and abilities.

We encourage you to continue to monitor our open roles and apply directly to those for which you believe you would be a good fit, so we can see your expressed interest.

Do you support collaborations/partnerships with other companies?

We do not typically support collaborations or partnerships.

Can I talk to someone at Backroads about the open roles?

If you would like to learn more about what it is like to work at Backroads without submitting an application, we recommend taking a look at our Career page and our LinkedIn page for testimonials and insight into our culture.

One of the stages in our hiring process is a phone call with our recruiting team, should your application reach that stage.
