This was our first backroads trip and will not be our last. Routes were mostly bike paths along rivers but included mountainous roads through small villages. Trip details were well handled by trip leaders and Backroads organization and transparent to us (but no doubt required significant effort). As we don't have opportunity to bike with a lot of vertical elevation, we chose to use ebikes. We could have used standard road bikes but ebikes did allow us to lollygag and enjoy the scenery and small towns. All biked at own pace. Each bike has a Waymo to find route and there was little difficulty. Biggest challenge was going through towns but getting lost (for short period of time) was part of the adventure. Leaders maintained contact through rides. Accommodations and meals were of premier, high quality. Each hotel/restaurant clearly catered to their Backroads guests. The "extra" activities (e.g. schnapps tasting; wine tasting) provided that much more local color and insights. A highlight was last full day picnic at a local Tyrolean farm house. This tour is definitely unique and well organized

Don't miss a great opportunity to bike in the Dolomites!

Just completed a bike trip through the Dolomites in Italy and Austria. The scenery was spectacular. We had amazing guides: Borja, Steph, James and Fabrizio. It's a challenging trip but attainable with e-bikes. Loved exploring the small towns where we stayed. The hotels were amazing along with the cuisine. Backroads doesn't skimp on the details and amenities. You won't be disappointed!

PERFECTION!!!! I'm an accomplished cyclist but my two companions get on a bike once a year. They rode electric bikes and had a wonderful time while I felt challenged by the hilly options. This trip is perfect for all types of cyclists!

My husband and I had a fantastic time!.We pedaled through gorgeous countryside and villages. The Backroads team, Davide, Ugo and Federica made us feel welcome and at ease. They took great care of us and were very knowledgeable of the regions we visited which made the trip even more enjoyable. The Premier hotels were beautiful and each of them unique, I'll never forget the incredible views we had from our rooms, the delicious meals and the fine service at each one. The picnic lunch on the farm was a highlight. The best part was the company, with our friends on a private tour, it was great time and an unforgettable trip!

Best leaders, beautiful hotels, AND the Dolomites!

This is our 4th Backroads trip and it exceeded our already high expectations. Loved the extensive network of bike paths through the valleys, our super personable and competent leaders, and our group of fellow travelers, none of whom we had met before. To me, that's what makes a perfect Backroads experience: meeting new interesting people from all over the country and being led and pampered by our leaders as we bond together doing a common activity. It's the best way to spend a week. The Dolomites weren't too shabby either!

Incredible Experience!

This was my first trip on Backroads. My wife's second. She did Pyrenees this past Spring with her best friend. This was hands down the best vacation I have ever taken with my wife. We are both 50 years old. It was a true shared bonding experience that was almost spiritual at times. We went with another couple who are close friends of ours and love to ride hard as well. We all had a truly incredible time together and alone on this trip. The Challenge rides were some of the hardest and most challenging rides I will likely ever do. One had a sustained 17% climb over multiple miles. Hardest and most satisfying thing I have ever done. This was a true vacation and shared bonding experience for all of us. I was able to get out of my head and truly shut down and enjoy the journey and experience. Incredibly special. Hands down the best money I have ever spent on a vacation. The three Leaders were all incredible, smart, supportive, and experienced. The three Hotels were gorgeous and epic. Places I would never stay on my own. Truly beautiful locations and views. The meals were all terrific. The rides, paths, and routes were excellent and challenging. The support was first class. Our group of 16 people was fantastic. I loved meeting all of them and spending time together. If you are looking for a first class experience and incredible, challenging riding through gorgeous countryside this trip is definitely for you! Enjoy!!

Our fourth trip and we're running out of superlatives!

Our leaders, once again, were outstanding - great people who made the trip effortless for us. The main hotels were wonderful. And the biking - on the endless bike paths, alongside rivers and through the spectacular South Tyrolean Alps - was just spectacular, with a great combination of cruising stretches and (optional) challenging climbs to great views. This Backroads trip will be tough to top.
