Lose yourself in the wonder of it. And find your happy place.

San Juan Isles
We hit the jackpot with our Backroads leaders! Raine, Jack & Paige far exceeded any expectation I imagined. With a big group of 14 of our friends (plus 8 additional "new friends") Backroads accommodated us in a fabulous way! The biking was beautiful, challenging (biking over 10,000 vertical feet during the week and fun); the food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. There were plenty of options along the way, including a successful whale watching tour, kayaking, shopping and enough downtime for rests if you wanted them. Overall, I recommend this trip and cannot wait for my next Backroads trip. Such a great time and I cannot thank our leaders and support staff at Backroads enough! Excellent job!

Our trip far exceeded our expectations
Fabulous leaders, beautiful countryside roads, fun ferry rides. Who could ask for anything more?

Great cycling trip with chances to also kayak and do a boat cruise. Good for moderate cyclists who enjoy beautiful views

This trip was our second trip with BRoads.Above expectation.
The 3 tour leaders were none short of excellent, knowledgeable, helpful, capable, funny, witty, willing, and non-stop helpful. Plenty of creative and tasteful on-the-road lunches. The equipment (bikes) performed as designed - perfectly. Fantastic trip above expectations. We are already planning our next trip with BR - 1st/2nd q'tr 2024.
Wow!! Backroads outdid themselves - again!
I've been on many, many wonderful Backroads trips, a testament in itself. However, not only was this trip through the San Juan Islands so well organized and executed, but the Backroads trip leaders are truly exceptional people who provide exceptional service. I arrived for this trip to find that Will Linehan, my Backroads trip leader from a trip in Stockholm and Copenhagen in 2017, had meticulously entered notes in my profile on how to properly outfit my bike - AND - that our trip leaders for this 2022 San Juan Islands trip had read my profile information and set my bike up per Will's instructions — without my having said a word to anyone. Such incredible service! Backroads sets itself apart from the crowd with their service and support, which runs deep within the company. Thank you, Backroads! Laura Brewer (18 trips so far ;-) )

The trip exceeded all expectations!
Our guide was excellent, organized, enthusiastic, and so socialable. I loved the mix of activities, the great locations of the inns, and the top notch food. Highly recommend.
Even better than my first Backroads trip!!
It's too bad that the ratings only go to a high of 10, because I'd easily give my three trip leaders a 20! They were professional, friendly, funny as heck, and sooooo hardworking. But they always made it look easy..... The attention to detail is amazing. I felt like all I had to do was show up every day, and the rest was taken care of. I can't wait to go on another trip with Backroads!
San Juan Island Fun
This was our first trip....Backroads did a fantastic job showing us the beautiful San Juan islands. BR made our trip relaxing and seamless.... Loved seeing the PNW and all of its beauty. Our leaders, Lauren and Amanda were fantastic, fun and attentive. We enjoyed the rides and variety. Backroads is definitely a quality organization and it's inspiring how many repeat vacationers there are....we will be taking another BR trip in the future!
Best trip ever!
This trip far exceeded all my expectations. The biking, the delicious meals and the amazing picnics, the wonderful leaders and all of our new friends. Also, the accommodations were wonderful with amazing water views and great jacuzzi tubs for after biking treatments. The leaders went out of their way to accommodate us with vegan options and we were well taken care of! I also loved all the multi sport options; we biked, got to hike to the top of an amazing mountain with gorgeous views and kayak at Roche Harbor Resort with a great guide. San Juan Islands is a must see trip of a lifetime!

One of the best vacations we've taken!
San Juan Islands were spectacular. So nice to see them from land and water. Our leaders, Maddie, Haven, and Jake were amazing! Very nice, super organized, made the effort to engage with each guest. The logistical planning that goes into these trips is mind boggling and they made it appear seamless! Loved the way they displayed the route wraps each morning. Very creative and fun!
