Premiere means exceptional!
If you are wondering how riding in rain, mud and freezing temperatures could possibly be more than "type 2" fun, sign up for this trip. Stunning views, unrestrained hospitality and exceptional leadership (thanks Mike and Ellis!) left us feeling like we got our money's worth.
Our trip far exceeded our expectations
Fantastic trip! We were fortunate that we had perfect weather. Top notch planning, staff, accommodations, and service!
Challenging with great options
There are some steep hills to climb if that's your thing, and options for shorter and still challenging routes if you want an easier but still fulfilling day. The towns and hotels are delightful. Countryside is idyllic.
A Lovely Engaging and Stunning Vermont Bike Trip
The morning sun cast a gentle glow over the rolling hills of Vermont, bathing the landscape in a warm, golden light. A group of eager cyclists gathered around two seasoned leaders, Sam and Ellis, who were known for their charismatic morning talks and profound love for the scenic routes of Vermont. Sam, a tall man with a broad smile and a booming voice, began the briefing. "Good morning, everyone! Today, we have a truly exceptional ride ahead of us. It's a long and steep journey, but I promise you, it's one of the most lovely routes we've ever taken." Ellis, with her curly hair and sparkling eyes, added, "You'll find the route engaging and full of surprises. Every turn brings a new view, and each climb rewards you with something stunning. Trust us, it's worth every pedal stroke." With the morning talk complete, the group set off, wheels spinning and spirits high. The first few miles were a gentle introduction to the day's journey, winding through lush green meadows and past charming farms with red barns. The air was crisp and filled with the scent of wildflowers. As the road began to rise, the group approached the first major climb. The incline was daunting, but Sam and Ellis rode alongside the cyclists, offering encouragement and tips for the ascent. "Remember to pace yourself," Sam advised. "Find a rhythm and stick with it." Ellis chimed in, "And don't forget to look around! The view from the top is going to be breathtaking." Sure enough, as they reached the summit, the cyclists were greeted with a panoramic vista of Vermont's majestic Green Mountains. The sight was indeed stunning, with layers of forested peaks stretching out as far as the eye could see. The group paused to catch their breath and take in the view, a sense of accomplishment mingling with awe. The descent was exhilarating, the road winding down through dense forests and alongside babbling brooks. The cyclists felt a rush of adrenaline as they sped down. Created by ChatGPT.

Extraordinary Vermont Cycling
Through mist, rain and into sunshine on truly back roads, our leaders kept our spirits up and brought us wonderful bike ride.
Amazing Trip
The trip in itself was amazing, Vermont is beautiful and we lucked out with having amazing weather all week to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. But then add in the attention to detail and the willingness of our trip leaders to go above and beyond to make it the most enjoyable trip possible, you can't get any better than that.
Once again a fantastic Backroads Trip!
Our leaders were top notch, our accommodations and food were excellent. The biking through the hills/valleys and the changing/falling leaves as well as the architecture of the homes and buildings in the villages was wonderful. And the FLOWERS!!!! I have never before seen so many beautiful and well cared for landscapes in the countryside AND around the homes in the villages. The Woodstock area has the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park very close to the town-take the 15 minute walk over and hike the trails!
Vermont Fall Foliage Trip
Riding through Vermont during the fall foliage season was such a great way to see the leaves changing. The trip leaders were excellent and our group was really fun. This is a much better way to see the scenery than from a vehicle window!
Another Amazing Backroads Adventure

Knowledgeable and fun leaders; fantastic food; glorious Fall colors; great variety of rides. Many of the reasons that we've traveled with Backroads as often as possible.
Fall Colors ... Bucket List stuff!
Verified Buyer
This definitely cleared one off the Bucket List! Beautiful country side, beautiful fall colors, and MAPLE SYRUP! LOL The Inns were picture worthy in themselves, the food was excellent, and the riding spectacular with plenty of hills to sate the climbers in the group. The leaders were awesome as always. The roads were occasionally challenging, but I was still very happy with the upgrade to Carbon Fiber. The mornings were often crisp, so I was also glad for my choices in layering. I would do this ride again. Of course I feel that way about almost every Backroads ride I've done! Great time!
