Days 1-2
Hike or horseback ride through the grassy hills and chasms of the Andes as majestic condors sail overhead • Immerse yourself in gaucho culture and savor traditional dishes like pollo al disco, or chicken stewed in a plow disk • Sample Argentina’s beloved yerba maté tea • Get your hands dirty (or rather, floury) in the kitchen as you learn how to make empanadas.

Located at the edge of the Andes, the Vines' beautiful vineyard, acclaimed restaurant and stunning rooms offer up a taste of Argentinian culture that will both rejuvenate and excite. (pool, spa)
Days 3-4
Hike or horseback ride through the grassy hills of the Andes as majestic condors sail overhead • Immerse yourself in gaucho culture and savor the cuisine of a traditional asado • Hike through the Cordón del Plata mountain range and wetlands • Keep an eye out for herds of llama-like guanaco roaming the area • At the end of the day, relish a delightful dinner.

Our hikes in the rugged Andes of Mendoza Province follow remote paths, many of which do not intersect with roads. Vehicles will get us to and from the trailheads, but the nature of these trails is such that we won't see our vehicles along the route. Ample trail support in the form of water, snacks, and encouragement is provided by your Backroads leaders and local guides.
