We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
The Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim provides unparalleled access to the best activities in the area, but it is simpler than is typical of Backroads lodging. The lodge has basic guest rooms that are not equipped with televisions or air-conditioning. Overall, the service standards can seem slow and casual when compared with the hospitality found on other Backroads trips.
At Under Canvas Bryce Canyon, we stay in large canvas-walled platform tents. Each is outfitted with a king-size bed, wood burning stove, and en suite bathroom. While our tents are comfortable, they do not have electricity or air-conditioning. Our location is close to the national parks, state parks and open land, so we may occasionally glimpse wildlife strolling through camp. With canvas walls and doors, sound may carry from nearby tents and chirping crickets, so we suggest packing earplugs.
Please note that internet and cell phone service are extremely limited throughout this trip.
The properties we use on this trip are chosen for their character and ideal location—they are not known for their food. Meals can be simple and menu options tend to lack variety. Please be aware that options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and low-carb meals will be especially limited and substitutions are rarely available.
The National Park Service has many regulations on hiking. In Bryce Canyon National Park, your leaders can hike with you but can't act as "interpretive guides." They'll also be unable to hike with you on certain trails in Grand Canyon National Park. Throughout the trip, your leaders will give an orientation to the area's flora, fauna and terrain before your hikes and rides. Thank you for helping us cooperate with each park's regulations.

We've become Backroads Fans!
Ashley, Mason and June were excellent leaders. So nice, helpful and fun. Not only did they make things go smoothly, they helped us feel comfortable doing activities and also made sure to tell us some history about the areas.
My first Backroads trip and it definitely won't be my last!
Amazing trip! Fun, knowledgeable Trip Leaders indulged our group with well organized adventures, super fun times, and of course delicious food, food, and more food!

Trip of a lifetime!
Everything about this trip was AMAZING! Our guides Amanda and Abby really went the extra mile to ensure that everyone had a fantastic time! It was a much better experience seeing the beauty of the National Parks with trained professionals helping us every step of the way. We were able to be as active as we wanted - there were choices most days for activity level and no one made you feel bad about doing less. I really enjoyed all the hotels and the food was good. A highlight of the trip food wise was definitely the picnic on the rim of Bryce Canyon. Wow!

Perfect trip
This was our first trip with backroads and it was awesome from start to finish . Great trip leaders, perfect mix of couples . The attention to detail is amazing . All needs were anticipated by Becca and Amanda . And there was always something someone needed in what we endearingly called the Mary Poppins van !

Trip was perfect!
Exceptional guides--friendly, intuitive, competent, and FUN! Best accommodations within the National Parks. Surprises every day! Incredible sights at every stop. Still dreaming about the Grand Canyon!
"Amazing" doesn't do it justice
How many ways can you say "amazing"? Each park amazed us in its unique way. It was wonderful to experience them on this well-planned and expertly led tour, with not a moment wasted yet plenty of time to take in the sights at our leisure. Our leaders were personable, knowledgeable, and tireless, taking care of every detail, from the moment they greeted us with iced water bottles for our first adventure. Our leaders inspired a friendly, easy-going dynamic in our group. I think everyone had a fantastic, memorable time.
Best family vacation for adventure and comfort
This was an amazing family adventure!! The parks are gorgeous and Backroads makes sure you can experience all of the beauty in comfort. The leaders on our trip guided us perfectly through every hike, meal, and bike ride. In addition they were an absolute joy to travel with. Every detail of your day has been planned so that you can relax and enjoy the best the parks have to offer.
Trip of a lifetime!
This was the best and most efficient way for us to visit 3 national parks in one week. There was no hassle, the guides were great and our group was awesome!
Our best vacation ever. So much fun.
This was our first Backroads experience and it was our best vacation ever. Three spectactular leaders. Awe inspiring venues. Impeccable organization. We loved our ability to determine the degree of challenge for each hike and bike ride. There were plenty of good food choices to adapt to all dietary desires. Even the van rides were comfortable and adventurous. I rate our experience as a 10. We are already planning our next Backrods trip.
What a great way to see three incredible National Parks!
With great guides and just the right level of physical challenges we experience Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon in ways that we could not have done on our own. We can't say enough about our wonderful experience and the tremendous guides who took care of everything.
