Crater Lake Lodge is a historic national park lodge that offers a simpler stay and more casual service than typical Backroads accommodations. Built in 1915, the hotel has preserved its rustic charm—each guest room features a unique floor plan and is not equipped with televisions or air-conditioning. We selected this hotel for its stunning location on the rim of Crater Lake and its access to world-class hiking.

Great Trip!
Great trip! Everything was handled to perfection. The staff was great and very helpful. The other guests were friendly and ready to take on the next hike. Oregon is as beautiful as it was the last time I visited. Crater Lake is one of the great views in the world.
A spectacular trip to Central Oregon!!
This was my fourth consecutive year traveling with Backroads once again, they managed to outdo themselves to provide another amazing and memorable travel experience!! The Backroads tour leaders are second to none and they are truly what makes traveling with Backroads so special and amazing!! A special shout-out to our amazing tour leaders - Annalise, Dara and Zeke for a memorable week! They went above and beyond to make this such a fun and adventurous trip!! This was my first trip to Oregon and it quickly became one of my favorite regions. I was especially struck by the contrast of Central Oregon - the snow capped Cascades, the lush forests, the high desert of Smith Rock and finally, the unrivaled beauty of Crater Lake. I can't wait to visit again and anxiously await my next Backroads adventure!

Highly recommend!
Can't beat the Backroads leaders - they know the area intimately and are kind, thoughtful and fun!

Ultimate Oregon Cascades Experience
This trip offered the perfect opportunity to hike some of the iconic landscapes of the Oregon Cascades while experiencing the best cultural vibe of Bend. The area is booming with adventure seekers who enjoy great food and craft brew. Backroads Leaders provided us a concierge tour with access to a variety of trails and good lodging along the way. We could enjoy the hikes much more with Backroads handling route selection, trail access and nice accommodations throughout the week. Their knowledge of the area allowed us to make the most of multiple venues (Bend, Mt Batchelor, Smith Rock, Crater Lake) in a shorter period of time.
Trip leaders/support are your best asset Trails were awesome
Trip leaders/support are your best asset! Trails were awesome (especially Crater Lake). This was my 1st BR trip and it met or exceeded my expectations each day. The itinerary and the anticipation of our group's every need/concern come through with high marks because of the company's experience and the trip leaders' maturity/knowledge/listening skills/flexibility!!! Well done!!
Oregon has lots to offer and we loved it all!
Oregon's inspiring peaks, beautiful lakes and peaceful forests made this hiking trip a special treat. With our great leaders teaching us while entertaining us all along the way, each day was a new fun experience. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience!
Guides were terrific, hiking was exceptionally diverse and the group bonded well...couldn't have asked for more!

Where to go next?
We just returned home for a beautiful trip in Cater Lake, Oregon. This is our 8th Backroads trip, and each one is a truly wonderful experience with great leaders and a lot of flexibility. Our only challenge is selecting where to go next!
Another fantastic adventure!
Backroads has a knack for finding the most enthusiastic, well-versed and intelligent, fun-loving leaders. They are capable and able to take on any issues that might come up. This helps make the Backroads adventures easier and more fun. You see wonderful sights and witness some of the worlds most exciting things while getting some exercise.

A wonderful trip. The guides were thoughtful and fun. I am 82 but they never made me feel bad about being the slowest one in the group.
