We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
This trip involves an ample amount of travel time which enables us to visit a great variety of Colombia's different geographic zones (including an internal flight that requires a layover in Bogotá and a 5–6 hour shuttle to Cartagena). The small winding roads to access national parks can make ground transportation a slow—but scenic!—endeavor.
The hotels on this trip are among the best each region has to offer, adding unique elements to the trip, whether it's architectural, historical or a beautiful location. They are, however, more rustic than other Backroads hotels, with rooms in varying sizes and simple amenities.
Colombia’s incredible diversity begs to be enjoyed in various ways. For this reason, we’ve complemented the four full days of hiking options on this trip with experiences and cultural encounters uniquely suited to the regions that we visit. While we’ll spend a little less time on the trails, we’re confident that we’ve found the ideal way to experience Colombia on two feet.
This trip includes travel on a commercial flight so that we can explore the best of your destination. Please note that flight schedules can change with little advance warning, which may require us to adjust our activities on a travel day. Your Trip Leaders will provide more details on any changes should this occur.
