WAY Beyond Expectation!!

Submitted December 2024

By Kathy

From Austin, TX

Friends had recommended Backroads, but we were not really sure what to expect and the Backroads experience was first class from start to finish! From the moment I contacted Backroads to schedule our trip to the airport drop off at the end, was nothing short of amazing - logistics, communication, transportation, trail snacks and lunches were unbelievable, nightly restaurants were right on. Hikes were at levels where you can choose what level you want to engage on that day - the leaders were kind, caring, patient and super knowledgeable about the places we hiked - so fun to hike and learn! Trail support was fantastic - hard to believe we were at a trailhead vs in a restaurant for lunch each day. fWe will absolutely do another Backroads trip!!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Excellent trip for varied activity levels

Submitted February 2024

By First Timers

From Reno, NV

Excellent trip with a fun group and amazing leaders! There were many options for varied activity levels. We were able to see the varied landscape of the desert, from Joshua Tree to the desert oasis's in the area. Our group leaders were able to pivot quickly to make sure we all had access to a fun trip, even with a bit of weather. We hiked Joshua Tree, Murray Canyon Trail at Indian Canyons (Seven Sisters Waterfall), and on the third day there were options for either returning to Joshua Tree or going to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indian's Tahquitz Canyon. We skipped the fourth day (just a walk through the Old Las Palmas Neighborhood to focus on history, architecture, and celebrities) to go golfing and ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tram… which in my opinion is more of a must see! Definitely stay an extra day to experience the Palm Springs Aerial Tram and bring some cold weather gear in addition to desert gear. This was our first Backroads trip and it was so well organized, we will definitely book more!

This 4-day trip included only 3 days of hiking and each hike provided great options for all levels of hikers. Each day the climate we hiked in was very different which we loved. Our leaders were amazing and made the trip extra special.

Beautiful hikes, delicious food, amazing leaders

Submitted January 2022

By julie

From Cupertino, CA

Another amazing Backroads trip with two phenomenal Backroads leaders, Miguel, Devin and Trina. I've been to Palm Springs before and I was expecting a lot of dry hot desert hikes interspersed with the usual delicious Backroads food. But what a pleasant surprise to see different terrain in the high desert, low desert and even some oases. But what made this holiday trip with friends and family really special was the amazing Backroads leaders -- the very best in the travel industry.

Leaders wer amazing, as always. I don't know how Backroads finds such genuine, kind people to run their trips, but whatever you're doing keep it up! Hikes were fantastic, a challenge for all levels. BACKROADS IS THE BEST!!
