Hunter Ellis

Hunter grew up among apple trees and grapevines in Sonoma County, California. From a young age, he’s been lucky enough to travel to far-flung corners of the world with his father, who owns and operates a one-man ecotourism company. Hunter fell in love with bikes while living carless for five years in Portland, Oregon, studying Classics and commuting by bicycle. This was just the beginning of a long-lasting affair that has come to include restoring, building and touring by bike.

Oregon by Bike

Oregon is beautiful. From its forests to its deserts, dunes to mountains, vineyards to rivers, it rarely ceases to amaze. But it’s best experienced from the saddle—a bike saddle, that is. I’ve been lucky enough to ride, camp and explore 750 miles of the state I once called home.

Bhutan: Reaching Tiger's Nest

The hike to Tiger's Nest--a challenge for some, a pilgrimage for others--is an essential part of any visit to Bhutan. Nestled into a cliff 3,000 feet above the floor of the Paro Valley, and resting at an elevation of over 10,000 feet above sea level, Tiger's Nest (or Paro Taktsang) is one of over 40 monasteries in the tiny Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan.
