6. Cúber Reservoir Loop
While Mallorca is most known for its coasts, its inland valleys hidden within the Tramuntana mountain range offer staggering beauty and unique geography. This 2.5-mile loop around the Cúber Reservoir (Embalse de Cúber) is a great warm-up hike that takes about one hour to complete. To get there, you can drive through the Tuscan-like town of Fornalutx – and on your way home, catch the sunset at Sa Calobra.
5. Sa trapa & Sa Dragonera
This hike along the southwest coast of Mallorca delivers gorgeous cliffside views of Sa Dragonera Island (named for its dragon-like shape) and the opportunity to explore Sa Trapa, a former monastery established by Trappist Monks who fled France for Mallorca in the 19th century. With around 1,000 feet of elevation, this hike is challenging especially on a hot day, but the remarkable views of crystal-blue water make it worthwhile. Afterwards, cool off with a dip in the water in the town of Sant Elm and enjoy lunch with a seaside view.
4. Camí de Cala Bóquer
Many beaches on the north side of Mallorca can only be reached by foot, and Cala Bóquer is one of them. This 3.4-mile loop trail begins near Port de Pollença and is a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the island. Be sure to pack a towel and bathing suit so you can enjoy a refreshing swim at this secluded beach, and look out for the many mountain goats you’re likely to see jumping along the rocks.
3. Muntanya del Voltor
Beginning in the charming village of Valldemossa, this 5.7 mile-loop offers magnificent views along the high plateaus of the Tramuntana mountains. With many switchbacks and a total elevation gain of 1,695 feet, it’s a challenging hike but features stunning panoramic views. The trail begins at Camí de ses Basses with a steep switchback section. Follow the signs for Deià onto Camí de s’Arxiduc. Step through stone walls and over step ladders to the summit and take in the views with orange and lemon groves in the valleys below.
2. Platja des Coll Baix
Similar to Cala Bóquer, some of the best and most tranquil beaches in Mallorca are only accessible for those willing to hike to get there. Playa del Coll Baix along the Alcúdia peninsula is one of the most phenomenal and unique beaches the island has to offer. This 2.5-mile out-and-back trail is moderately challenging especially as you get closer to the beach, so you’ll be happy you wore proper footwear. You’ll be rewarded with turquoise-blue waters along a pebble-beach shrouded by astonishing cliffs – and likely more mountain goats!
1. Cala Deià to Ben’s D’Avall along Camí des Pintores
One of our favorite hikes on the island begins in the artist oasis town of Deià. Grab a coffee at de moniö while you marvel at the imposing mountains that hug the town. First, head toward Cala Deià and check out this iconic beach before heading up the cliffside following signs for Ben’s D’Avall/Sóller. During this 4.5-mile one-way hike, you’ll find mesmerizing, turquoise water amid vibrant pine trees. The trail isn’t always well-marked and the terrain is challenging, but the views are simply unbeatable.
